Competition

Viola 2024

NYIAA will present the Eleventh New York International Artists Viola Competition in April 2024. The candidates’ performances will be judged via on-line format. Candidates must submit recorded performances by sending a YouTube/Vimeo link. The submitted recordings must abide by the competition’s rules and regulations.

Application

All application documents, including YouTube/Vimeo links, must be received on or before April 1, 2024. Applications can be submitted online or via emailing competition@nyiaa.org.

A $5.00 surcharge is added for all PayPal payments.

Rules & Regulations

Calendar

  • April 1, 2024: Application deadline
  • May 15, 2024: Announcement of the results on the NYIAA website
  • Winners Concert at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall or Merkin Concert Hall in New York City (Date TBA)

Repertoire

  • Category A: 11 to 14 Years old
    1. One movement of a standard concerto
    2. One or more pieces/movements from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Contemporary periods
      (Movements of Sonatas are acceptable.)

 

  • Category B: 15 to 17 Years old
    1. One movement of a standard concerto
    2. One or more pieces/movements from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Contemporary periods
      (Movements of Sonatas are acceptable.)

 

  • Category C: 18 to 35 Years old
    1. One movement of a standard concerto
    2. One or more pieces/movements from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, or Contemporary periods
      (Movements of Sonatas are acceptable.)

 

 All pieces are to be performed from memory with the exception of Sonatas movements.

Prize

  • First Prize:    Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall or Merkin Concert Hall in New York City Appearance sponsored by NYIAA
  • Second Prize: Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall or Merkin Concert Hall in New York City Appearance sponsored by NYIAA
  • Third Prize:   Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall or Merkin Concert Hall in New York City Appearance sponsored by NYIAA
