Competition

Piano 2024

NYIAA will present the Eleventh New York International Artists Piano Competition in April 2024. The candidates’ performances will be judged via on-line format.

Candidates must submit recorded performances by sending a YouTube/Vimeo link. The submitted recordings must abide by the competition’s rules and regulations.

Application

All application documents, including YouTube/Vimeo links, must be received on or before April 1, 2024. Applications can be submitted online or via emailing competition@nyiaa.org.

Application Payment

A $5.00 surcharge is added for all PayPal payments.

Calendar

  • April 1, 2024: Application deadline
  • May 15, 2024: Announcement of the results on the NYIAA website
  • September 8, 2024: Winners Concert at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Music Center in New York City 

Repertoire

  • Category A: 11 to 14 Years old
    1. The first movement of a sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Schubert, or Beethoven.
    2. One of the following:
      • A substantial composition by Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, or any work of the 19th century.
      • A complete work of the 20th or 21st centuries.
Note: Concertos are not accepted. Please e-mail competition@nyiaa.org for questions regarding the pieces’ lengths.

 

  • Category B: 15 to 17 Years old
    1. The first movement of a sonata from the Classical period.
    2. One of the following:
      • A substantial composition by Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, or any work of the 19th century.
      • A complete work of the 20th or 21st centuries.

  • Category C: 18 to 35 Years old
    1. The first movement of a sonata from the Classical period.
    2. One of the following:
      • A substantial composition by Chopin, Schumann, Liszt, Brahms, or any work of the 19th century.
      • A complete work of the 20th or 21st centuries.

  • First Prize:   Merkin Concert Hall in New York City Appearance sponsored by NYIAA
